Samsung Slates Global Launch of Bada Smartphone for Late March
February 06, 2010
Samsung Electronics said on February 4 that it has slated the global launch of its Bada-based Smartphone for late March at the earliest, the Korea Herald reported. Bada is Samsung's own-developed mobile operating system, and the company expects to substantially boost the share of Bada-based devices in its Smartphone shipments this year. Meanwhile, Samsung is also about to roll out its first Android-based Smartphone for the Korean market in April. Based on the latest Android 2.1 operating system, Samsung's new Smartphone is expected to be the first Android-powered device to feature video calling and will be sold via Korean mobile operator SK Telecom. Samsung has set the full-year shipment target of its overall mobile phone business at 270 million units in 2010, representing 19% growth from 227 million units in the previous year.
